Celebrate CNY with SMSA!

SMSA has planned not one, but THREE events to welcome the Year of the Tiger. We call it the Chinese New Year Trilogy and it is coming to you on the 13th and 14th of February, 2010!

a)  CNY Dinner: 13 Feb, 5pm
Enjoy a traditional Chinese dinner with your friends from SMSA at Great China! As the dinner will be partially subsidized by the Consulate General and SMSA, it will only cost $12 for members.



Time & date: 13 Feb,  5pm
Venue: Great China on 2115 Kittridge Street, Berkeley
Cost: $12 (members); $15 (non-members)

b) CNY Eve Games Night & Countdown: 13th Feb, 8pm

After the dinner, head over to Jeremy's place to indulge in fun & games and countdown to the New Year! We'll provide poker, mahjong, drinks, snacks & more.

Time & date: 13 Feb, 8 pm onwards
Venue: Jeremy's house on 2600 Ellsworth St, Berkeley
Cost: Free (members); $3 (non-members)

c) "Bai Nian" at Yuani's: 14th Feb

If you're missing pineapple tarts and other delicious CNY goodies, pay a visit Yuani's house the next afternoon. You'll also get to learn to make traditional Chinese dumplings from our president-cum-master chef, Wu Fan! There will also be a movie screening.

Venue: Yuani's house on 2117 Haste Street, Apt 211

Welcome back to Cal! The SMSA Exco is excited to bring you more opportunities for fellowship and bonding away from home in the weeks ahead.

Here is a sneak preview into what's coming up - do save the following dates!

- Feb 13 & 14: Chinese New Year Celebrations
- Apr 10: SMSA Social (Activity TBD)
- Apr 17: Springfest (International Food Festival at the International House)
- Apr 24: 2010-2011 General Elections
- May 3: End of Year Banquet

We will also be organizing a series of "Makan Trips" for us foodies to explore yummy new eating places in the Bay Area together! The tentative dates are as follows:

- Feb 6: Makan Trip 1 at Angeline's Louisiana Kitchen (RSVP here)
- Mar 6: Makan Trip 2 and Activity in San Francisco
- Apr 3: Makan Trip 3
- Apr 23: Makan Trip 4

Dear all,

As the end of the semester approaches, SMSA would like to thank all of you for having come out to our events and helping to make them a success.

From Pre-Departure orientation, Freshmen Picnic, MAF and more to our thanksgiving Tahoe trip, we hope that you enjoyed getting to know and spending time with your fellow SMSA friends through our various events over the semester and summer.

For those of you who will be returning to Singapore after this semester, we hope you leave with fond memories of Berkeley and have a great trip back. For everyone else who will be here next semester, we hope to see even more of you at our events again next semester - we promise it'll be an exciting one!
